A faulty cable knocked out multiple traffic lights in downtown Cleveland overnight, according to Cleveland Public Power.

CLEVELAND, Ohio - A faulty cable knocked out multiple traffic lights in downtown Cleveland overnight, according to Cleveland Public Power. Power to the signals went out around midnight Thursday. Cleveland Public Power said a faulty cable caused the outage.

It took nearly nine hours to restore power, with signals coming back online around 9:40 a.m., though some remained dark after that.Traffic signals on East Ninth Street and parts of Euclid Avenue were among those without power. As of 11:30 a.m., the intersection at East 14th Street and Prospect Avenue was still operating without signals. The utility says it is determing whether traffic signals have backup power during outages.
