San Antonio defense attorney Steven Edward Gilmore has maintained a fairly quiet profile — until becoming a court-appointed lawyer in a case that's gripping our city: the disappearance of a real estate agent and mother of four. Suzanne Simpson , 51, a mother of four, has been missing for about three weeks. She was last seen alive on Oct. 6 and is presumed dead by law enforcement. Gilmore, 38, joined the Bexar County Public Defenders Office about two years ago.
The search for Suzanne Simpson The new charges for Brad Simpson came after Texas Rangers and Olmos Park police detectives arrested Brad Simpson’s friend and business associate, James Vallee Cotter, on suspicion of tampering with evidence with intent to hinder an investigation, a third-degree felony.
Business partner of Brad Simpson, husband of Suzanne Simpson, arrested Brad Simpson also faces a federal felony charge of possessing an unregistered firearm that was filed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. A detainer — a formal notice that someone in state custody is also wanted on federal charges — seeks to prevent his release from jail. Magistrate judges have set Brad Simpson’s bail at $500,000 per charge, totaling $3 million.
