CINCINNATI - Hundreds of people gathered at Laurel Playground to mourn the loss of an 11-year-old shot and killed New Year’s Day in the West End.Linda and Darlene Kennedy , Reed’s cousins, describe her as a “good spirit” and a “child of God.
” “You used to playing with your toys in the house, just got your Christmas gifts, and now you got to bury your baby,” Darlene tells FOX19 NOW. They normally play, have fun, play basketball. Matter of fact, two of my grandsons had just came from the park and they heard a shooting," Linda explained.“And when I took the grandma to the hospital last night, the pain and the suffering that we saw last night, it would break your heart,” Darlene said.It was also a demand for action. “Right now we are decreeing and declaring that justice will come on behalf of . Yes, that justice will come, Lord, that the perpetrators, Lord God, will have no peace,” a speaker said at the vigil.“Somebody know what happened? Just say something,” Linda said. “You don’t have to be seen. Tell nobody nothing. Just call the police. Say something because this little girl needs justice.” Several people at the vigil said they would be organizing, looking for solutions to this.
