dog in a Mat-Su Animal cruelty case has been transferred to Mat-Su animal control on Thursday, according to Borough Manager Mike Brown. The dog seemed to be in healthy condition when Mat-Su Animal control transported her, Brown said.
The Mat-Su Assembly also held a meeting in Willow, where much of the community came out to voice their concerns.
“Obviously that’s at the, one of the hearts of the mushing community here in the Mat-Su, not too far from where the Caswell case occurred,” Brown said. “So, you know, quick update on the case. Obviously, the defendant’s been charged. That investigation and the details of that are being handled by the state through the Department of Public Safety, state troopers and the DA’s office.
” The Borough announced last week that they are launching an independent third-party investigation of Animal Control following the discovery of the dogs.
“That investigation will likely start in earnest next week,” Brown said. “We have identified an investigator from outside the borough that will be supporting and helping to lead that effort. ”
