CINCINNATI - The bench trial for a man accused of manslaughter after two dogs mauled his 3-year-old daughter in December 2024 continued into its fifth day Friday.His daughter, Kingsley Wright , was seen on security video shown in court Thursday, crying and screaming as she was being attacked.
In court Friday, Houston took the stand to explain that the dogs weren’t able to get out on their own and why he and his girlfriend slept in the next room with the door closed during the attack. “I first looked at the door to see if there was any breakage. I looked at the window to see if there was any breakage and upon seeing that there was no entry and the fact of the state that my daughter was in, the only logical conclusion would be the dogs,” Houston said during his testimony. Testimony at one point centered on the dog cage that prosecutors said had a faulty latch, allowing the two pit bull terriers to escape and maul Kingsley, who was asleep on a couch nearby, while her father and his then-girlfriend were in another room with the door closed.He also told detectives that he never had any problems with either dog, but detectives told him he didn’t have to see signs of aggression to know it was dangerous for them to be around a child.“I had walked into a living room and seen my daughter completely scalped, mangled. I was in shock. I was in disbelief.
