ANCHORAGE, Alaska - An Anchorage man who opened fire on police officers, injuring one, during a tense hour-long standoff near downtown in March 2022 has been sentenced to decades in prison. Dillon Spring , now 32, was sentenced this week to a total of 210 years — with 135 years suspended — leaving 75 years to serve, according to the Anchorage Police Department.
The court also ruled that Spring will not be eligible for parole until he has served nearly 50 years. Spring was convicted in May 2025 on 23 counts, including six counts of attempted first-degree murder, stemming from aPolice responding to the initial call said Springand apartment and refused to comply with officers’ commands. After obtaining a warrant, officers entered the apartment, at which point Spring began firing at police, authorities said. One officer was shot and seriously injured, requiring hospitalization and surgery. Court records and police statements later identified that officer as Dominick Eubank. Investigators said Spring fired at six Anchorage police officers during the encounter. The standoff stretched several hours, prompting the closure of Ingra Street between 9th and 15th avenues as negotiators and a SWAT team worked to bring the situation to an end. Police used tactics that included loud noises and smoke in an effort to force Spring out of the building. He ultimately surrendered and walked out of the apartment on his own.
