Her quest led her to iconic spots like Barney Greengrass, Pastrami Queen, and The Pickle Guys, where she discovered a garlicky pickle variety with a sweet and tangy flavor that became the inspiration for the pizza's brine. The $9.99 pie features a creamy bechamel sauce infused with the pickle brine, along with roasted garlic, mozzarella, and fresh dill. It's now available at Whole Foods stores. Becker's journey to create this pizza was deeply personal. Her parents, both Holocaust survivors, instilled in her a love for Jewish culture and traditions. Her father's first job in America was at a bakery on Manhattan's Lower East Side, near the bustling brine markets that were once a staple of the neighborhood.Becker initially considered using actual pickle slices as toppings but ultimately decided to incorporate the pickle brine into the sauce, creating a more subtle and nuanced flavor.
