A 26-year-old woman is facing a series of charges after allegedly failing to comply with a traffic stop, leading to a high-speed pursuit and attack on a police officer. She is charged with aggravated battery, fleeing and eluding police, and multiple misdemeanors.
A 26-year-old woman is facing a series of charges after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop at high-speed and then biting a police officer. According to the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, Aviance Carson was allegedly involved in a crash near Hinsdale South High School on Thursday night, leading police to be called to the scene.
It is alleged Carson deliberately crashed her vehicle into the back of another vehicle driven by her aunt, who had just picked up two students at the school. When officers arrived, Carson allegedly backed up and nearly struck two officers, then crashed into a squad car before fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed. Reaching speeds of more than 60 miles per hour, Carson allegedly led police on a brief high-speed chase before pulling into an apartment complex.
She then attempted to flee on foot, and was apprehended by DuPage County sheriff’s deputies. It is alleged she then bit a police officer and kicked at several others before being placed into handcuffs and taken into custody. Carson is now charged with aggravated battery to a government employee, aggravated fleeing and eluding police, and multiple misdemeanors including battery and obstructing a peace officer, according to the DuPage County State’s Attorney.
The DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office sought to have her detained pretrial, and a judge granted that request during a court hearing this week, according to authorities.
