The annual event features interactive exhibits on conservation and outdoor recreation.
) - The newly opened Conservation Center at Five Rivers hosted an event to show off the beauty and adventure of the Mobile-Tensaw Delta. There were 40 interactive exhibits, including wildlife encounters and rod and reel casting .
Organizers said it was important for people in the area to recognize that they play a part in maintaining and enhancing the beauty and ecology of the region.
“As we’re at America’s Amazon. This is one of the most biodiverse places in the country, and it’s good for people to get out one experience the outdoors here, to get to learn a little bit about the history of this area,” said Scott Bannon, director of the Alabama Wildlife Federation Delta and Bay Conversation Center.
“We have people like the Native American folks that are here. We have the raptor folks from Auburn, who are showing us some of the wildlife, marine resources with some of the sea life, and there’s just so many opportunities for people to get out in the sunshine and experience what Mobile and Baldwin counties have to offer in America’s Amazon,” Bannon said.
