Damian Denzell Robinson Jr., 29, faces felony and misdemeanor charges after allegedly assaulting seven women and attempting to record a minor in a six-hour period. He has pleaded not guilty and is being held on $355,000 bail.
A 29-year-old man, Damian Denzell Robinson Jr., has been formally charged with multiple offenses following a series of alleged sexual assault s that occurred within a six-hour period in the San Fernando Valley last Sunday, April 19th.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced the charges on Friday, detailing a disturbing pattern of behavior that allegedly targeted seven women and a young girl. Robinson faces two felony counts of assault with the intent to commit a forcible sex crime, alongside six misdemeanor counts of sexual battery. Further charges include one misdemeanor count each of engaging in lewd conduct and invasion of privacy through the surreptitious recording of a minor.
The alleged incidents began around 9 a.m. and continued until approximately 3:30 p.m., spanning several locations within the Granada Hills and North Hills areas. The series of assaults, as outlined by prosecutors, commenced with an incident at a store in Granada Hills where Robinson allegedly assaulted a 64-year-old woman by forcibly removing her pants and engaging in unwanted physical contact. Shortly after, at approximately 10 a.m., he allegedly attempted to sexually assault a 73-year-old woman walking in North Hills.
This was followed by a further assault on a 51-year-old woman on the street. Over the subsequent hours, Robinson is accused of approaching and inappropriately touching four additional women. The alleged spree culminated inside a retail store around 3:20 p.m., where he purportedly attempted to secretly record a six-year-old girl using his phone while she was in the bathroom. This final act led to the inclusion of the invasion of privacy charge.
Law enforcement officials were able to identify Robinson as the suspect through the use of closed-circuit television footage obtained from various locations. Following the release of his photograph and details of the alleged crimes, Robinson voluntarily surrendered to the Lancaster Sheriff's Station on Wednesday evening. The District Attorney's Office stated that if convicted on all charges, Robinson could face a maximum sentence of 16 years and six months in state prison.
This potential sentence is compounded by Robinson's prior criminal history, which includes a previous conviction for indecent exposure and lewd conduct. This prior conviction necessitates his registration as a sex offender. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman issued a strong statement condemning the alleged actions, describing them as 'calculated, warped and deeply disturbing.
' He emphasized the office's commitment to holding Robinson accountable and preventing similar incidents from occurring in the future. Hochman also urged anyone who may have been a victim or witness to come forward and contact the Los Angeles Police Department. Detective Danielle Tumbleson of the Devonshire Area Sexual Assault unit is the designated contact for anyone with information related to the case, and can be reached at 818-832-0609.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are actively seeking any additional information that may assist in building a stronger case against Robinson and identifying any potential further victims. The community remains understandably shaken by these events, and law enforcement is working to reassure residents and ensure their safety
