More than three dozen volunteers gathered Sunday morning in Ocean Beach to celebrate the end of the 23rd annual invasive plant species removal event in conjunction with San Diego River Days.
The volunteers picked and removed an ugly brown weed known as crown daisy from the banks of the San Diego River mouth, creating a habitat for native plants, birds, and other creatures. The event was the culmination of a nine-day celebration of the San Diego River, with over 40 events held along its 52-mile length
