A portion of State Route 421 has now been named in honor of a local man who was killed while serving in Vietnam in 1970.
MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio - A portion of State Route 421 has now been named in honor of a local man who was killed while serving in Vietnam in 1970.
Corporal Amheiser was awarded the Purple Heart, a Bronze Star for Valor, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. The Corporal David James Amheiser Memorial Highway is the stretch of State Route 421 that runs adjacent to the Amheiser family farm.
“I’m proud to see this bill officially cross the finish line and be signed into Ohio law,” said Ohio State Representative Sharon Ray. “This is a meaningful way to honor a great local hero. I hope this memorial highway keeps Corporal Amheiser’s legacy alive in our community, brings comfort to his family, and honors the sacrifice he made.
