Figure AI has unveiled its third-generation humanoid, Figure 03 , marking a major leap toward everyday robotic assistants. The five-foot-six machine builds on its predecessor, Figure 02, with a sharper sensory system, a softer look, and better coordination.
The company says the new model is powered by Helix, its in-house AI that fuses vision, language, and movement to learn directly from human behavior.The new cameras process twice as many frames per second, reduce delays by 25 percent, and expand the field of view by 60 percent. The result is smoother, faster navigation through complex spaces like kitchens or warehouses. Each hand also has its own palm camera for close-up vision.This setup allows the robot to grab objects hidden from its main sensors and adjust its grip in real time.The hands are softer, more flexible, and feature fingertip sensors that can detect as little as three grams of pressure, roughly the weight of a paperclip. That level of sensitivity lets the robot handle delicate items like glassware or prevent tools from slipping.Figure says these sensors are entirely custom-built, not off-the-shelf components.Built for home and workFigure 03 is lighter and smaller, with a 9 percent reduction in mass, helping it navigate tight spaces. It’s wrapped in washable mesh fabric instead of exposed metal and padded with foam to reduce the risk of injuries.The robot’s wireless charging system uses coils in its feet, allowing it to recharge by simply stepping on a pad at up to 2 kW. A full charge provides around five hours of operation.Audio capabilities also see a big jump. The speaker is twice as large and nearly four times louder than before, while the microphone has been repositioned for clearer communication. Users can now talk to Figure 03 naturally, without the tinny distortion common in voice assistants.For businesses, the upgrades mean serious productivity potential. The actuators move twice as fast and deliver more torque, allowing the robot to match human pick-and-place speeds. It can sort metal parts, handle soft plastic bags, or perform packaging tasks.Companies can customize each unit with branding or side screens, and high-speed mmWave connectivity enables data transfer at 10 Gbps, letting fleets of robots share what they learn.Scaling for the real worldMost humanoid robots remain one-off prototypes, expensive and slow to produce. Figure aims to change that. The company redesigned its assembly line to use die-casting and injection molding instead of complex machining, reducing cost and build time.Its new factory, BotQ, can produce 12,000 robots annually and expects to ramp up to 100,000 within four years.The company also built a new supply chain for mass production, working with partners capable of large-scale, high-quality manufacturing.Watching Figure 03 in action, cleaning, folding laundry, or serving food, can be both fascinating and unsettling. Figure AI’s latest unveiling, featured on the cover of Time magazine as one of its Best Innovations of 2025, signals how close humanoid robots are to entering homes. Still, even the magazine admits, “Figure 03 will not be ready for home use upon its release.”For now, Figure 03 remains a striking symbol of progress and a reminder that the leap from lab to living room is not quite complete.
