In perhaps the most extreme example so far, Trump’s State Department will roll out a new variant of the U.S. passport design that features the president’s face.reports the agency will release the new Trumpy passport design to honor the 250th anniversary of the country’s founding in July — or at least that’s the official explanation. Mock-ups of the design provided to Fox show an image of Trump layered over an image of the Declaration of Independence against an American-flag background on the inside front cover.

The back cover shows a version of artist John Trumbull’s iconic paintingwhich depicts the moment when a draft of the country’s founding document was presented to the Second Continental Congress. The State Department gave Fox this image:reports the State Department will produce only 25,000 passports with the Trump design; a source tells the outlet the proposed changes are still awaiting approval before they can be released. According to Fox, the passports will be issued “pending availability” to any U.S. citizen who applies for a new passport at the Washington, D.C. , passport agency.

On social media, Pennsylvania representative Brendan Boyle, “If Trump cared about lowering costs as much as he does putting his face and name on everything, gas would be $1, and we’d be paying $25 a month for groceries. ” California representative Mike Levin similarly condemned the concept.
