After a thrilling doubleheader split with Briarwood Christian, the #1 ranked Faith Academy Rams secured the GMC Baseball Championship by defeating the #2 Lions 13-7 in Game 3.

After splitting a doubleheader with Briarwood Christian on Thursday night, the top-ranked Rams returned home Friday for a decisive Game 3 and delivered in a big way, defeating the Lions 13-7 at Faith Academy Sports Complex.

The Rams jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning. A wild pitch brought home the game’s first run before Brodie Wilson launched a two-run homer over the right field wall to give Faith a 3-0 advantage. The Lions erupted for five runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-run double from Parker Daniels, to take a 5-3 lead and put the pressure back on the Rams.

In the bottom of the third, Collin Hall ripped a two-run double into the gap to tie the game before Tucker Richardson followed with an RBI double of his own. Kobe Hunt added an RBI single later in the inning as the Rams reclaimed the lead, 7-5. The fireworks continued in the fourth inning when Briarwood’s Ivan Hand blasted a two-run home run to left field to even the score at 7-7.

The Rams exploded for five runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Richardson came through again with a two-run double as Faith’s offense overwhelmed the Lions. Grayson Finch earned the win on the mound, while freshman Lathan Boddie came in to close the door and secure the victory.

“I just told our guys, look, that’s why you play three games,” Seymour said. “They came back and answered of course, scoring multiple runs. We felt good coming in today with our Game 3 starter. I had my two best relievers, so I felt pretty good about it.

”“I knew at the beginning of the season me and my guys were coming out here to do this,” Boddie said.

“They’ve had confidence in me all throughout the season, and getting that last out and celebrating with my guys is a feeling I’ve never had before. It’s awesome. ”“It’s unreal,” Hall said.

“We’ve talked about it since the end of last year. It’s been something we’ve all talked about since middle school. It feels great to finally make it to this point. ”“It’s a dream come true, honestly,” Finch said.

“Job’s not finished, though. We’ve still got to win two more games, but I believe in this group. I think we got it. ” Seymour said the Rams will celebrate this win before quickly turning their focus toward the state championship series.
