New ADA accessible boardwalk opens at Bayfront Park in Coden

The boardwalk gives visitors new access to the coastal marshland around the park.

The boardwalk gives visitors new access to the coastal marshland . It also completes a half-mile-long ADA-accessible path around the park.

“On a random Monday in May, the beach was full, the playground was full of kids, people were enjoying the park, and so I think this has really been a great community asset and it will really be utilized more now that we have this boardwalk,” said Chris Blankenship, commissioner of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Randall Dueitt, District 3 county commissioner, said the park provides important amenities for the community.

“You can provide all the jobs you want in a community. But it’s hard to get people to move to your community just for a job. You’ve got to have these items like this park,” Dueitt said.
