CLEVELAND , Ohio - Many people in a Cleveland neighborhood are spending their Easter Sunday in the dark.“I have no heat, no lights, and nowhere to eat. My food went bad,” Eberhardt said.She said it has ruined her Easter plans and made it hard to take care of her 4-year-old granddaughter who has autism.
“I can’t cook to feed her. I have to keep running to McDonalds or Little Caesar’s down the street,” said Eberhardt. “My Easter food went bad. My ham, macaroni, everything is bad.” She shared with 19 News that she has even stayed on top of her payments with Cleveland Public Power .19 News reached out to CPP to learn why the power is out and when it could be restored. CPP told 19 News they are working on getting more information.shows between 51 to 500 customers were affected in the Collinwood neighborhood.As of 6:40 p.m. Sunday, the power has not been restored. 19 News spoke with Councilman Mike Polensek, who said he was told the feeders were the cause, and that employees are not reporting to work. City council approved for CPP to bring in private contractors in emergency situations like this incident.“The response has been absolutely terrible to deny families the right to celebrate at home is absolutely outrageous.”“It’s not fair when we are paying our light bill.
