PIERCE TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Prosecutors revealed new details Friday as a former Clermont County daycare worker was arraigned after a grand jury indicted him on more than a dozen charges related to alleged sexual contact with a 5-year-old and child sexual abuse material.
Christopher Helmer is behind bars on an $800,000 cash bond after a judge called the allegations “disturbing and concerning.” “Not only did he kiss a 5-year-old on and off multiple times, a child who was at the daycare he worked at, he admitted he was infatuated with her,” a prosecutor told the court Friday. The Clermont County Sheriff’s Office says Jelly Bean Junction daycare reported Helmer on March 26 to police after firing him for inappropriate contact with a child. Investigators say Helmer kissed the 5-year-old multiple times while he was working. Prosecutors say Helmer admitted to taking multiple photos of the child and of other children getting into cars. They argued for a high bond, saying he may not be a flight risk but could be a danger to children. “He had Google searched her address at least 27 times, and found out how long it would take to get from his house to her house,” the prosecutor said.Prosecutors say they found child sex abuse material on his phone. “He is so into children, he has a diaper fetish. There are hundreds of pictures to show that,” the prosecutor told the court Friday. “That is not a charge; it is not illegal to have a diaper fetish, apparently, that shows the propensity to be involved with 5-year-old children.” Helmer is indicted on five counts of gross sexual imposition, one count of grooming 10 ten counts of pandering sexual matter involving a minor, according to Clermont County Prosecutor Mark Tekulve.There is no evidence that Helmer had inappropriate contact with any other child at the daycare, Tekulve said.Body found wrapped in blankets near Canton creek identified as 46-year-old woman
