With extremely cold days in the 30s and lows diving to the upper teens this weekend, warming stations throughout southeast Alabama are opening their doors.

- With extremely cold days and bitterly frigid nights this weekend, warming stations throughout southeast Alabama are opening their doors.Saturday, Jan. 17 - Tuesday, Jan. 20, 7 p.m. - 9 a.m. The church’s warming shelter will be open to the homeless and those without shelter who need to escape the cold.

Meals and cots will be provided. Doors lock each night at 9 p.m.Christian Missions Center The Christian Mission Centers in Enterprise is opening its doors tonight, and ahead of each night lows are expected to dip below freezing. Those wanting to stay must arrive or call 393-2607 to reserve a spot each night before 8:30 p.m. Blankets, hot meals and cots for lodging will be provided. Pets are prohibited. While the nonprofit plans to close each morning at 7:30 a.m., it will keep its dining room open during daytime hours when temperatures are at or below freezing. Coffee and warm meals will be available for visitors.Saturday, Jan. 31 - Sunday, Feb. 1, 6 p.m. - 9 a.m.Temperatures are expected to level off only in the mid-30s on Saturday before dropping to the upper teens Sunday morning, with single-digit wind chills.
