Thorsby man sentenced to 30 years for production of child sexual abuse material

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Mathew Louis Hourany, 36, of Thorsby, pleaded guilty in January to producing child phonography on at least six separate occasions with multiple victims.

) - A man from Chilton County has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for producing child sexual abuse material, U.S Attorney Sara J. Jones announced Thursday.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Mathew Louis Hourany, 36, of Thorsby, pleaded guilty in January to producing child pornography on at least six separate occasions with multiple victims. According to Hourany’s plea agreement, an investigation was launched in September, 2024 after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip regarding the upload of child sexual abuse materials to a cloud storage drive. NCMEC provided the tip to the FBI.

Hourany was arrested in March, 2025 after FBI investigators identified him as the owner of the account used to upload the content.

“Children deserve to grow up safe from harm, and protecting them remains one of law enforcement’s highest priorities,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Davidson. “This sentence reflects the gravity of the defendant’s conduct and emphasizes our commitment to stopping predators who target children. We will continue working with our law enforcement partners to ensure offenders are held fully accountable.

” Following his prison term, Hourany will remain on supervised release for life and will be required to register as a sex offender.
