) - A suspect has been arrested in connection to a shooting that hospitalized a well-known Montgomery business owner.
Court records confirm the shooting was at Can A Brotha Get A Slice on South Decatur Street around 6 p.m. Tuesday. While it is not clear if the shooting happened inside or outside, police found the victim inside. He had been shot in the abdomen and forearm. While the injuries were not considered life-threatening, that man was rushed into surgery. A family member publicly identified him as Cedric Sanders, the restaurant’s owner, which was also confirmed in the filings. That relative said he was “doing good, not critical.”
According to the deposition, 18-year-old Gregory Robinson was still on the scene when police got there. Investigators says he admitted shooting Sanders after the two got into an argument. He also surrendered a 9 mm handgun. While the nature of the argument isn’t clear, the deposition alleges Robinson claimed he pulled his gun because he got scared. “He advised the victim began yelling at him louder and told him to shoot him,” the statement reads.
