Ted Stevens International Airport now ranks 1st in the U.S. for cargo, nears top of worldwide list

Ted Stevens International Airport (ANC) is moving up the ranks as a cargo airport.

Anc horage’s international airport now ranks first when it comes to air cargo in the United States. It also now sits in the third spot worldwide, according to the Airports Council International World. The numbers are calculated based on the amount of freight and mail loaded and unloaded in 2025, according to ACI World.

“These rankings reaffirm Anchorage’s critical role in global commerce and its position as America’s leading cargo hub,” according to the airport. “Anchorage continues to rank among the world’s most important cargo airports, driven by ANC’s strategic location on the great circle route, operational efficiency, and unique role connecting Asia, North America, and beyond.”“ANC’s unique location allows aircraft to reach nearly 90% of the industrialized world within a single 9.5-hour flight, making it one of the most efficient cargo transfer points on Earth,” the airport wrote.
