The ultra-rare Rocky Limited Edition pairs rugged looks with stock underpinnings for just 10 lucky owners at Indonesia’s GIIAS
Daihatsu revealed the Rocky Limited Edition at the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia Auto Show. It gets unpainted bumpers, custom grille, and orange paint with black exterior accents. Only ten units will be produced, priced just $260 above the standard Rocky trim.
Owning something rare tends to stir the imagination, whether it’s a multi-million-dollar hypercar or something far more practical but just as exclusive. In that spirit, Daihatsu is testing the appeal of a limited-run budget SUV with the Rocky Limited Edition, produced in just 10 units for select customers in Indonesia. It features unpainted bumpers, a bespoke grille with Daihatsu lettering, and black-finished 16-inch alloy wheels, giving it a rugged, utilitarian look. Concept-Inspired Looks With Subtle Tweaks Unlike the show car, the production version is painted in Energetic Orange with black accents on the roof, wheel arches, and mirror caps matching the bumpers. Unfortunately, it misses out on the grippy tires and roof rack of the Rocky Crossfield, but owners can always add aftermarket bits after the purchase. The interior looks mostly stock, although the steering wheel, center console, climate vents, door handles, and gear knob have black inserts. The special edition is based on a mid-spec trim of the SUV, so it comes standard with a 7-inch infotainment, a digital instrument cluster, fabric upholstery, and two airbags. Daihatsu Rocky Limited Edition Daihatsu Rocky Crossfield Concept The special edition might look tough but it doesn't have any performance or chassis modifications compared to the model it is based on. Under the hood lies a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that is limited to 87 hp and 113 Nm of torque. It’s paired with a CVT that drives the front wheels. Still, enthusiasts might wish for the more powerful 1.0-liter turbo option with 97 hp , which is available in Japan with an all-wheel-drive system. Daihatsu also offers a range-extender hybrid variant of the Rocky in Indonesia, though it’s been available in Japan since late 2021. Rare but Affordable The Rocky Limited Edition is priced at 248,750,000 Indonesian Rupiah , just $260 more than the standard model with the same powertrain. It’s a small price to pay for the bragging rights of owning a Daihatsu that's just as rare as a Bugatti Centodieci. Interested parties should act fast before the limited production allocation disappears. As we mentioned earlier, the automaker is only accepting orders at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show which runs between July 24 and August 3 this year.
