The district's decision not to renew the contracts of head coach Johnathan Regets and assistant Joshua Weidman, who had a 15-match winning streak this year and ranked 5 of 63 schools in their division, was met with outrage from parents and students. The superintendent stated that an investigation found multiple policy violations and safety-related concerns within the wrestling program.

They had a 15 match winning streak this year, and ranked 5 of 63 schools in their division. Parents and students were outraged at the district's decision to not renew the contracts for head coach Johnathan Regets and assistant Joshua Weidman.

Superintendent Bernie Kepler said,"an investigation was conducted by our solicitor. That investigation identified multiple policy violations and safety related concerns that occurred within the wrestling program.

As a result the board believes it to be prudent and appropriate to consider additional candidates for the programs head coach.

" Those policy violations, parents said could pertain to a prior investigation where both coaches were suspended and then reinstated. "I'm not worried about myself," Regets said. "The only reason I'm still fighting the good fight here is because I love those kids. "Some said they believed the decision may lie in board politics.

But thankfully some of your board members called us out and now you know where you stand. Students on the wrestling team said they would be upset to lose the bond they've created with their coaches "Us wrestlers-- we haven't felt like anything we want to have has happened. And I feel like they are trying to take them away from us," said one student.
