The body of Jacob R. Hemlick, a man reported missing from Stark County on January 12th, was recovered from the Berlin Reservoir in Deerfield Township. The recovery was conducted by the Portage County Sheriff's Office, the Deerfield Township Fire Department, and the Portage County Water Rescue Team after a family discovered an object in the water. The body was transported to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The body of a missing Stark County man was recovered from the Berlin Reservoir in Deerfield Township on Tuesday.According to a Portage County Sheriff’s Office social media post, a family was boating on the lake when they found an unidentified object floating in the water near the dead end of Watson Road by German Church Road.

Portage County Sheriff’s Office deputies and the Deerfield Township Fire Department responded to the scene. The Portage County Water Rescue Team was also activated to assist in the recovery.The teams recovered the body from the reservoir and transported it to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.Investigators determined that the man, identified as Jacob R. Hemlick, was reported missing out of Stark County back on Jan. 12. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones during this difficult time.
