'Live at Gruene Hall,' out on Record Store Day, includes the live debut of the band's biggest hit, 'Kiss Me.'
Sixpence None the Richer's homecoming concert at Gruene Hall in October felt like a reunion. At one point, singer Leigh Nash talked about how exciting — and a bit distracting — it was to see all the familiar faces in the crowd.
Fans who weren't shoulder-to-shoulder with all the band's friends and family in the old dance hall that night will soon be able to enjoy the concert at home. “Live From Gruene Hall” will be released on vinyl on Record Store Day, April 12. RELATED: Sixpence None the Richer celebrates 25th anniversary The 17-track double album includes the band's hits, such as their cover of the La's 'There She Goes' as well as songs from their new EP, “Rosemary Hill.” According to the Record Store Day website, “Live From Gruene Hall” also features the live debut of Sixpence’s biggest hit, “Kiss Me.” The song, which was released as a single in 1998, has been embraced by a new generation of fans. Sabrina Carpenter, one of 2024's breakout pop stars, has covered it in concert. Only independent record stores like Batcave Vinyl, Southtown Vinyl and Hogwild Records will be carrying Record Store Day releases. Since there are more than 300 RSD titles, selections will vary from store to store. Here are eight more Record Store Day releases with Texas ties: Bad Livers, “Delusions of Banjer”: The 1992 debut album by Austin's one-of-a-kind roots music group is being reissued on 180 gram “solar flair” vinyl. Bun B, “Return of the Trill”: This is the first vinyl release of the 2018 album by Houston rap royalty Bun B. Jesus Lizard, “Flux”: The recently reunited noise rock band that started in Austin is releasing an EP of songs that didn't make the cut for its 2024 album, 'Rack.' Post Malone, “Post Malone Tribute to Nirvana”: Post Malone, this year's RSD ambassador, is releasing a full album of Nirvana covers recorded during a 2020 livestream. The genre-hopping superstar, who grew up in Grapevine, will play the Alamodome on May 7. The 13th Floor Elevators, “Houston Music Theatre, Live 1967”: A legendary live show by the psychedelic rock pioneers gets a long-long-delayed release. Various artists, “Sweet Relief: We Can Help”: Sixpence None the Richer also appears on this benefit album covering Neil Young’s “The Needle and the Damage Done.” Lucinda Williams contributes a version of the blues song “Somebody Loan Me a Dime.” Various artists, “MOM: Best of Music for our Mother Ocean”: This compilation of tracks from a series of '90s benefit albums includes a cover of “Summer in the City” by San Antonio punk legends Butthole Surfers. The Sword, “Warp Riders”: Austin heavy metal band the Sword marks the 15th anniversary of their sci-fi concept album “Warp Riders.” The Sword will hit town on April 11 for a show at Paper Tiger.
