The former AT&T building on Broadway is being converted to a multipurpose complex that will increase the campus footprint by 20%.
The University of the Incarnate Word has announced a $5 million pledge from a private foundation to help renovate a former AT&T building for the school’s multi-use Founders Hall complex. The pledge from the Elma Dill Russell Spencer Foundation is the third seven-figure gift supporting the nine-story, 380,000-square-foot complex, the largest renovation project in UIW history, the university said. The addition of the building, designed by prominent architect Atlee B.
The Founder’s Hall complex, envisioned as a “hub of academic excellence and gateway to global understanding for the community,” will house the center, which promotes better relations among the people and nations of the Western Hemisphere. It also will include a community events center, the School of Mathematics, Science and Engineering, the School of Media and Design, a new student health center and the UIW Police Department.
