Fraudulent Asylum Schemes Exposed: Legal Advisers Arrested for Coaching Migrants to Fake Sexual Orientation

Two individuals have been arrested in East London following an undercover investigation that revealed a network of legal advisers charging thousands of pounds to help migrants fake LGBT identities to secure asylum in the UK.

The Home Office has executed a series of coordinated raids across east London, resulting in the arrest of a man and a woman accused of orchestrating a fraudulent asylum scheme.

The investigation, which began after a shocking undercover exposé, revealed that certain legal advisers were actively encouraging asylum seekers to fabricate claims of being gay to avoid deportation from the United Kingdom. A woman in her late 40s was detained on suspicion of providing immigration services in violation of the Immigration and Asylum Act, while a man in his early twenties was arrested on suspicion of fraud.

This operation was carried out by the Criminal and Financial Investigations section of the Home Office's Immigration Enforcement Team, signaling a crackdown on the professional exploitation of the asylum system. The depths of the deception were uncovered by a BBC investigation that exposed a clandestine network of consultants charging exorbitant fees, some as high as 7,000 pounds, to coach migrants on how to fake their sexual orientation. These advisers targeted individuals whose student, work, or tourist visas were nearing expiry.

The fraudulent process involved providing clients with meticulously crafted cover stories and instructing them on how to falsify evidence. This evidence included forged medical reports, supporting letters, and photographs taken at LGBT nightclubs to create a false persona. The migrants then claimed they faced deadly persecution in their home countries, specifically Pakistan and Bangladesh, where homosexual acts remain illegal.

One particular adviser, Tanisa Khan associated with Worcester LGBT, was filmed offering a package for 2,500 pounds that included fabricated letters and endorsements to ensure the claim's success. The scale of this fraud was further highlighted during a Worcester LGBT event, specifically an Eid Milan Party held at the Beckton Community Centre in east London.

Despite the event being attended by more than 175 men from across the country, undercover reporters discovered a startling truth: many participants openly admitted that virtually none of them were actually gay. One attendee explicitly stated that not even 0.01 percent of the people present were gay, despite the organization's claims to only support genuine LGBT asylum seekers.

Statistics from 2025 indicate that overall asylum claims surpassed 100,000, with 35 percent of these claims coming from individuals whose visas had expired, suggesting that the system is being systematically targeted by unscrupulous legal advisers seeking to profit from the desperation of migrants. Political reactions to these revelations have been sharp. Immigration Minister Mike Tapp, who was present during the raids, emphasized that such fraudulent advice severely undermines the claims of genuine refugees who are fleeing war and legitimate persecution.

He asserted that those attempting to abuse the asylum system will not be tolerated and that the government will pursue any legal professional providing such dodgy advice. Conversely, Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp criticized the government for its slow response to the issue, describing the situation as migration madness.

Philp argued that the current administration has lost control of the borders and advocated for a stricter approach, including leaving the ECHR and implementing a plan to remove illegal arrivals within a week. This case highlights the complex tension between maintaining a compassionate asylum system and preventing organized fraud
