The deadly shooting happened around 6 p.m. on May 4 at the McDonald's off Katy Freeway near Chimney Rock Road. Houston Police said a customer was angry with employees over his order and demanded a refund. That's when Jeffrey Limmer, 46, stepped in to try and calm the situation down. The argument got more heated and then continued outside in the parking lot. Detectives told KTRK that Limmer pushed the customer to the ground. The customer then went to his car, got his gun and allegedly shot Limmer before driving off. Jeffrey Limmer's sister, Jennifer Thomas, said her brother spent his career trying to help others and was one to "fight for the little guy." So it wasn't a surprise when detectives told her that's what he did in his final moments. "Knowing Jeff, he's the one who always says, 'Calm down. It's not that big of a deal,' and divert the situation," Thomas said. "He's always wanted to fight for the little guy and do the right thing." Police are searching for the killer who they say drove off in a late 2000s blue Ford pickup truck, while his family awaits justice. "A good Samaritan who is trying to do the right thing and not letting those employees at McDonalds go through that," Thomas said.
