ANCHORAGE, Alaska - If you rent out your home or a room in Anchorage, you now have a deadline. Short-term rental owners can start registering with the city today, and they have until July 30 to comply.
Short-term rentals currently operating, including previously permitted bed & breakfasts, will have until July 30 to register through the free online application portal.to require owners to register their short-term rental listings. Anchorage Assembly member Zac Johnson said this was to determine how many rentals operate in the city.
In addition to a current State of Alaska business license, the registration form requires the following information to complete:The type of living unit Whether or not the STR is available seasonally or year-round Whether or not the STR has been rented out on a long-term basis in the past yearThe name and phone number of a local point-of-contact responsible for the short-term rental An affirmation that the information and statement provided in the application are true, correct and complete Applications are reviewed and approved in the order they’re received.
Upon approval, owners will be assigned a municipal “STR” number unique to the unit in the form of a registration certificate issued via email.
