Pres. Donald Trump bashed Alaska’s ranked-choice voting system Friday afternoon, a statement filled with false claims that the system creates fraudulent elections.
JUNEAU , Alaska - President Donald Trump called Alaska ’s ranked-choice voting system “fraudulent” Friday, repeating claims election officials and researchers say are not supported by data. “The Wonderful People of Alaska desperately want to restore Free, Fair, and Honest Elections in their Great State, and get rid of their disastrous, and very fraudulent, “Ranked-Choice Voting” and, accordingly, will vote to Repeal Ranked-Choice Voting in the November 3, 2026 Election," the president said onand the U.

This should tell Alaskan voters everything they…The Alaska Democratic party chair Eric Croft said the statement was a threat to Alaska’s election integrity. “Lower 48 politicians are once again trying to meddle in Alaska elections and attempt to undo the will of Alaskans,” Croft said in a statement to Alaska’s News Source. “Alaskans have already made it clear that we want open non-partisan primaries and ranked-choice voting, and nobody from the Lower 48 is going to tell us how to run our state or elections.” Alaska’s News Source reached out to the Alaska Republican Party for comment, including whether they believe Alaska’s Ranked-Choice voting system creates fraudulent elections. Nancy Dahlstrom, R-Alaska, transferred Alaska’s entire voter rolls to the Department of Justice, a move drawingreads an email sent 10 days after Dahlstrom agreed to release the data, “including the registrant’s full name, date of birth, residential address, his or her state driver’s license number or the last four digits of the registrant’s social security number.” A legal analysis commissioned by the House majority concluded the DOJ’s demand was “unprecedented” and that the legal justification used had never been applied this way before.
