ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Beach Boys are returning to the Alaska State Fair a year after having to cancel at the last minute. The group of musicians who have thrilled listeners with the “sounds of summer” since the early 1960s will perform at the fair Aug. 31 as part of their tour celebrating 60 years since their release of “Pet Sounds,” one of their most successful albums.will go on sale to the public Friday at 10 a.m., according to state fair officials.
Fair member and artist presale tickets are currently on sale.their scheduled show due to what they called “unforeseen circumstances” that were beyond the band and the fair’s control. Founded in 1961, the group has maintained a steady presence in rock and pop music for decades, playing hit singles such as “Good Vibrations,” “I Get Around,” “Help Me, Rhonda,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” and “California Girls.
” Over the years, the group has produced four No. 1 hit songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and have had tens of millions of album sales. Mike Love is the current front man of the group and the lone remaining original member who still performs regularly.
