DOTHAN , Ala. - The Alabama Department of Transportation has begun resurfacing U.S. Highway 84, also known as Main Street, in one of the city’s busiest corridors.
The project is split into four phases and is expected to be fully completed within six to eight weeks, weather permitting. Phase one runs from Museum Avenue East to Ross Clark Circle near Southeast Health, with most of that work happening during daytime hours.
“We’re excited to kick off the resurfacing for Main Street. It’s been a long time coming,” said Tommy Wright, director of public works for the city of Dothan.
“So here in the next six to eight weeks, we’re likely to be pretty close to completion of this project. Of course, everything’s pending weather. I know everyone’s going to be excited to get Main Street back in good shape. ” Future phases will also cover downtown streets, including Museum, Englewood, Oats and West Main.
