Damaged floor wiring under the front passenger seat could prevent airbags and seatbelts from deploying correctly or cause unintended side curtain airbag deployment, increasing the risk of injury in a crash. Kia dealers will inspect and fix the wiring assembly free of charge.
Kia is recalling over 80,000 of its electric and hybrid vehicles over concerns about airbags, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced last week.The recall pertains to 2023-2025 Niro EVs, Plug-in Hybrids , and Hybrid vehicles, according to the agency's website.
"In addition, dealers will install wiring covers," the statement read.
