Netflix's newest hit, 'Sold Out on You', stars Ahn Hyo-seop in a romantic comedy and is described as a spiritual successor to 'Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha', another one of Netflix's most popular romance K-dramas. Ahn Hyo-seop returns as a humble researcher-turned-farmer in the countryside, bringing his charm and chemistry to the series.
Between Perfect Crown, Filing for Love, My Royal Nemesis, Yumi's Cells 3, and many more, the Spring 2026 season has been coming in hot with the romance K-dramas.
That said, while Perfect Crown is raking in the views over at Disney+ with IU and Byeon Woo-seok, Netflix has also called in its biggest K-drama heartthrob for its new hit romance. Even four years later, Business Proposal remains one of Netflix's most sensational, global hits. The series not only pushed K-dramas further into the limelight but also springboarded the careers of its main cast.
And now, one of its biggest stars, Ahn Hyo-seop, is back to steal hearts once again in Netflix's newest rom-com, Sold Out on You. Furthermore, it may just be the spiritual successor to Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha that K-drama fans have been waiting for all these years.
Ahn-Hyo-Seop's New Netflix Rom-Com Is About to Dethrone Business Proposal Released on April 22, 2026, Netflix has found its newest hit in Sold Out on You, a romantic comedy starring Cha Won-bin, Kim Bum, and most excitingly, Ahn Hyo-seop, who has finally made his return as a romance lead for the first time since the 2023 time-travel mystery thriller, A Time Called You. That said, instead of the charismatic chaebol heir fans know him as in Business Proposal, Ahn Hyo-seop has returned this time as a humble researcher-turned-farmer in the countryside, but he's still just as dreamy and swaying viewers' hearts even more strongly this time around.

Posts 2 By Shealyn Scott The series follows successful shopping host Dam Ye-jin, who, in order to secure a contract with a popular beauty brand, is forced to venture into the countryside to negotiate a raw materials deal with the brand's supplier.
This leads her to cross paths with the farm's very thorny, blunt owner, Matthew Lee, played by Ahn Hyo-seop. Having made a poor first impression, Ye-jin's negotiations with Matthew Lee break down before they can even begin. But while he's stubborn, Ye-jin is twice as persistent and ready to use whatever means necessary to secure that deal.
Thus takes off the game of cat and mouse between the two, as Ye-jin will stop at nothing but maybe a restraining order to get Matthew Lee back at the negotiating table. Despite his initial borderline rude behavior, Matthew Lee's character is quirky and endearing and very easy to fall in love with, especially as he warms up to Ye-jin.
And, much like he did with Business Proposal, Ahn Hyo-seop once again has any fan who's watched Sold Out on You absolutely swooning over his performance and his excellent chemistry with Chae Won-bin. Netflix Has Found Its New Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha in Sold Out on You Better known amongst the villagers as Mechoori, Ahn Hyo-seop's character is the village's handyman, much like Hong Du-sik from Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, albeit more reluctant and guarded than the latter.
That said, it is quite immediately evident that Matthew Lee is beyond kind and secretly cares for his neighbors deep down, despite how much they might pester him all day. The same eventually proves to be true even with the series' main lead, Ye-jin, despite them getting off on the wrong foot at first.
Beyond just Ahn Hyo-seop's character, Sold Out on You's premise and romance are also very reminiscent of Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, another one of Netflix's most popular romance K-dramas of all time, alongside Business Proposal. Much like Home-cha, Sold Out on You sees its main lead venture off to the countryside, encounter a handsome and charismatic handyman with a mysterious past, with whom she immediately does not get along.
However, in classic enemies-to-lovers fashion, the banter eventually gives way to friendship and them ultimately falling in love. Just like Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, Sold Out on You also features a strong supporting cast in the form of the endearing residents of Deokpunk Village, down to the adorable old grandmothers and children.
Admittedly, Sold Out on You does not explore the side stories of its supporting cast as deeply as Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, though it more than makes up for this by making its supporting cast as quirky as they come. All that said, with eight of its twelve episodes out so far, now's the perfect time to catch up on Sold Out on You.
The series is currently right in the middle of its big emotional climax, and admittedly, the cliffhangers are quite agonizing to sit through. However, the sad spell likely won't last too long, with only four episodes to go. With two new episodes coming out this Wednesday and Thursday, this week might just be the best time to binge the series just in time for the happy finale next week.
