' Upon opening the tablet, she discovered months of hidden conversations, including plans for late-night meetups and restaurant visits that had never been mentioned at home. While these features were originally designed for security and convenience, they can be exploited to create a phone that appears normal while hiding illicit activities. Tech expert Kim Komando, known for her insights into consumer technology and digital security, has exposed the secret 'affair mode' settings and how to detect them on a partner’s phone. She tested these methods across various devices, noting that screens may vary slightly depending on the model and operating system.
If the options don’t appear the same, she advises users to keep searching, as the answers are often hidden within the settings. One of the most deceptive tactics involves fake calculator apps. Apps like Calculator Pro+, Calculator Vault, and Secret Calculator mimic the appearance of a standard calculator but require a secret PIN to reveal hidden photo vaults, private messaging apps, or call logs.
If a calculator app is unusually large—over 30MB instead of the typical 5MB—or requests access to contacts, the microphone, or the camera, it’s likely hiding something. Another red flag is the 'Hide an App' feature, which allows users to obscure app icons and names on the Home Screen, pausing notifications and locking access behind Face ID. Built-in apps like Mail, Messages, Notes, Phone, Photos, and Safari can also be locked, requiring Face ID to open.
