entrance. Adoptions are first-come, first-served, and require adopters to be over 18 with valid ID and proof of address. More details are available at “Shelters face many challenges, from overcrowding to natural disasters,” said Cathy Bissell, Founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation in a press release. “Empty the Shelters is a critical opportunity for communities to adopt and save lives. If you can’t adopt, consider fostering to help when shelters are full.”BARC’s adoption center, located at 3300 Carr St., operates from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday. Despite Monday closures for adoptions, urgent pets remain adoptable from the 3200 Carr St. entrance. “This campaign is crucial for BARC, as our shelter is near capacity,” said BARC Shelter Director Jarrad Mears in a press release. “Strategic partnerships like these are vital to finding homes for our pets.” Since its start in 2016, Empty the Shelters has helped over 253,000 pets find homes, making it the largest funded adoption event in the U.S.Holly joined the KPRC 2 digital team in March 2024, leveraging her eight years of expertise in blogging and digital content to share her passion for Houston.
