Margo's Got Money Troubles season 2 has been confirmed by Apple TV, with the brilliant cast and the popular novel it's based on driving fan interest. The story of season 2 will be original, expanding the tale beyond the book but still honoring its source material.
The following article contains spoilers for Margo's Got Money Troubles season 1, including the finale. Like baby Bodhi, the Margo's Got Money Troubles season 2 announcement comes as a surprise, but it's a welcome one.
The Apple TV series, which premiered on April 15, 2026, was a hit on arrival, landing on the streaming platform's worldwide top 10 most-watched shows every week of its eight-episode run. Margo's Got Money Troubles also earned rave reviews from critics, achieving an impressive 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. Much of the praise has been heaped on the talented cast of Margo's Got Money Troubles, led by Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Nick Offerman.
Fanning plays the titular protagonist, a 19-year-old college student whose affair with her English professor results in an unplanned pregnancy. After dropping out of school, Margo earns money as an OnlyFans content creator, determined to raise her newborn son on her own terms. Helping her are her former Hooters waitress mother and retired wrestler father . Thaddea Graham also stars as Margo's loyal roommate, Susie.
Based on the 2024 bestselling novel by Rufi Thorpe, Margo's Got Money Troubles made some big changes from the book, though it honors the spirit of its literary source material. This bodes well for the newly announced second season, and here's everything you need to know about it. Margo's Got Money Troubles Season 2 Is Confirmed Apple TV confirmed Margo's Got Money Troubles season 2 on May 13, 2026, one week ahead of the season 1 finale.
In an official press release, Matt Cherniss, Apple TV's head of programming, stated, Ever since David ’s sharp adaptation of Rufi’s novel debuted, audiences have wanted to spend more time with these riveting characters and the brilliant cast behind them, led by Elle, Michelle, Nick and Thaddea. We’re excited to watch Margo and the entire family continue to defy the odds in season two, in the way only they can, with humor, determination and creativity.
Given that Margo's Got Money Troubles is based on a standalone novel, a second season wasn't necessarily expected. However, it's not uncommon for a popular TV show to expand its story past the book it's based on. This is exactly what happened with Big Little Lies, another hit series from Margo's Got Money Troubles creator David E. Kelley. On Margo's Got Money Troubles' season 2 renewal, Kelley said,"Margo’s Got Money Troubles was an irresistible proposition to me from day one.
I fell in love with Rufi’s world and unpredictable characters, and it’s been rewarding to see audiences embrace this series. We can’t wait to continue this story with our partners at Apple and A24.
" Margo's Got Money Troubles Cast Details Based on Cherniss' statement, it's safe to say that the core cast of Margo's Got Money Troubles will be returning for season 2. It certainly wouldn't make sense not to have protagonist Margo Millet back for more adventures, bringing along her support system in Shyanne, Jinx, and Susie. Nothing has been confirmed, but it's likely that Greg Kinnear will also return as Margo's lovable square of a stepfather, Kenny.
Though Margo successfully won full custody of Bodhi in the season 1 finale's dramatic courtroom scene, Mark still has visitation rights, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him back in season 2, along with his icy villainess of a mother, Elizabeth . The final scene of Margo's Got Money Troubles featured Margo continuing to make content for her OnlyFans page.
Should she continue to collaborate with Rose and KC , they'll likely be back as well. Nicole Kidman also starred as Jinx's old friend and Margo's lawyer, Lace. With the custody battle over, Margo doesn't really need Lace in her life anymore, but with Elizabeth likely continuing to make life difficult for Margo, it wouldn't hurt for her to keep Lace around.
Kidman is also an executive producer on Margo's Got Money Troubles, so it's probable that Kelley will find a way to keep her in front of the camera. Margo's Got Money Trouble Story Details With Margo's Got Money Troubles season 1 having wholly adapted Thorpe's novel, season 2 will be based on an entirely original story.
Few details about season 2's plot have been given, though Fanning delivered this statement in Apple TV's press release: Embarking on the adventure of bringing Margo to the screen has been one of the greatest joys of my life. When I first read Rufi’s stunning story, it felt wholly original and most importantly human, and then with David’s writing, along with our epic cast of heart-wrenching performances, it truly felt like we had something special.
Having the opportunity to bring more of Margo’s troubles, creativity, fearless spirit and authenticity to audiences with a second season makes me incredibly happy and excited. I can promise everyone they’re in for a wild, messy and beautiful ride. A wild, messy and beautiful ride is a perfect description for Margo's Got Money Troubles season 1, so if Fanning's words are anything to go by, audiences are in for a treat with season 2.
It's currently unknown when the sophomore installment will be released, but until then, we'll be hungry for our favorite HungryGhost.
