Relief is on the horizon!Temperatures will gradually cool back to normal by Thursday, but they don't hang there for long -- everyone is 10-15 degrees above average by next Sunday.As far as this Sunday goes, we still had several cities expected to tie or set new records, including Ramona, Alpine, Campo and Borrego Springs .
If that goes as expected, that would make it the 15th day in a row some place in San Diego County set a new record. That would also mean 147 records set in the month of March.Once Monday arrives, the streak and records will come to an end. Daytime highs will dip about 5-10 degrees thanks to a partly cloudy start to the week. The mountains and deserts will also see a westerly breeze pick up with sustained winds around 10-20 mph and stronger gusts up around 35-40 mph.Winds will pick up even more during the middle of the week. Areas in and west of the mountains also have a slight chance for morning showers on Wednesday.Meantime, those temperatures continue to fall through Thursday when everyone is back to or even slightly below average. That puts the coast in the mid-60s to low 70s and the inland valleys in the upper 60s to mid-70s.The cool down doesn't last long, however.
