Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis Campbell presented law enforcement officials with life-saving awards Tuesday after they worked to save an infant’s life.

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis Campbell presented law enforcement officials with life-saving awards Tuesday after they worked to save an infant’s life.

Sheriff Orvis Campbell recognized the life-saving efforts, presenting 9-1-1 telecommunicator Michelle Colvin and Lawrence Township Deputy Sheriff Adam Shaw with life-saving awards and commendations. On April 3, the sheriff’s center received a call about an unresponsive infant in cardiac arrest at an apartment in the township.

From the dispatch call, Shaw arrived at the scene 56 seconds later and took over performing CPR. After several rounds of CPR and the administration of oxygen, the infant survived and was transported to Aultman Hospital.

“These employees acted heroically that day and the community should be very proud. I am also certain that Lawrence Township’s commitment to paying for additional law enforcement ensured an unbelievably fast response time and helped save this young life,” Sheriff Campbell said.
