455 Films has released a preview of the special features for the 'To The Journey: Looking Back at Star Trek: Voyager' documentary, funded by a record-breaking Indiegogo campaign. The 3-disc Blu-ray set, featuring extensive interviews with cast and crew, will ship in June 2026.

455 Films has provided a captivating preview of the extensive special features that will accompany the Blu-ray release of the highly anticipated Star Trek : Voyager documentary, 'To The Journey: Looking Back at Star Trek : Voyager '.

This project, born from an incredibly successful Indiegogo campaign – recognized as the platform's most funded endeavor to date – has navigated a lengthy path to its physical media debut, now slated for June 2026. The journey began with premiere events in New York and Los Angeles in November 2024, offering Indiegogo backers an exclusive first look and the opportunity to engage with executive producers and cast members from the original series.

Digital copies were subsequently delivered to backers in time for Star Trek: Voyager’s 30th anniversary in spring 2025. However, unforeseen increases in production and distribution costs prompted 455 Films to independently assume responsibility for the physical release, ensuring the documentary reaches a wider audience. The Transporter Room’s YouTube channel recently unveiled an 11-minute sizzle reel showcasing the wealth of bonus content included in the 3-disc Blu-ray set.

This behind-the-scenes glimpse features brand new, exclusive interviews with a remarkable roster of Star Trek: Voyager alumni, including Kate Mulgrew, Jeri Ryan, Robert Beltran, Robert Duncan McNeill, Tim Russ, Roxann Dawson, Ethan Phillips, Garrett Wang, and Robert Picardo. Beyond the core cast, the documentary also includes insightful contributions from Star Trek luminaries such as George Takei, alongside poignant interviews with the late executive producer Jeri Taylor, Shawn Piller (son of the late Michael Piller), and a host of beloved Star Trek performers including John de Lancie, Armin Shimerman, Vaughn Armstrong, Andrew Robinson, and Jeffrey Combs.

The reel also incorporates footage from the Los Angeles premiere event, offering a sense of the excitement and celebration surrounding the documentary’s creation. Producer and co-director David Zappone announced on Facebook that the Blu-ray and DVD versions are now entering the manufacturing phase, with shipping expected in June, and assured purchasers they will receive value exceeding their initial investment.

The standard 3-disc set of 'To The Journey: Looking Back at Star Trek: Voyager' promises a comprehensive exploration of the series, boasting nearly nine hours of content. Recognizing the enthusiasm of backers who have already received digital copies, 455 Films is actively exploring options to incorporate the special features into the streaming versions as well. This commitment to delivering a complete and enriching experience underscores the dedication of the filmmakers to honoring the legacy of Star Trek: Voyager.

In a landscape where the future of the Star Trek franchise at Paramount Skydance remains somewhat uncertain, owning this documentary on physical media serves as a tangible way to celebrate the series’ enduring impact and ensure the spirit of the USS Voyager continues to inspire. The documentary isn't just a retrospective; it’s a celebration of a show that resonated with millions and a testament to the power of fan support.

The long wait for this release is expected to be well worth it for fans eager to delve deeper into the making of their favorite series and revisit the adventures of Voyager and its crew. The documentary provides a unique opportunity to hear directly from the people who brought the show to life, offering insights into the creative process, the challenges faced, and the lasting bonds formed during the production of Star Trek: Voyager
