The shooting happened in the 3400 block of Coral on Sunday May 17, 2026.
TOLEDO, Ohio - Toledo Police officers shot an armed man Sunday morning after responding to a weapons call in West Toledo, a department spokesperson said.
Officers responded to a weapons complaint in the 3400 block of Coral Avenue, not far from Alexis and Rambo, at approximately 10:34 a.m. Sunday, police said. A caller reported that a man was loading a shotgun while making threats to kill multiple people, according to police. Officers found a 44-year-old Brandon Pechette armed with a shotgun, police said. Officers told him to drop the weapon but he pointed it at police, according to police.
Officers then shot him, but TPD didn’t initially say how many fired shots or how many times Pechette was hit. Pechette was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. No officers were injured. The officers involved will be placed on paid administrative leave.
Toledo Police Investigative Services is investigating. Police said body-worn camera and dash camera footage will be released in accordance with department policy.
