Peltola yet to announce first-quarter earnings after garnering $1.5 million in first 24 hours

JUNEAU, Alaska - The campaign for Sen. Dan Sullivan , R-Alaska, announced Thursday that the incumbent raised $2.1 million in his first quarter. His opponent’s campaign, former Democratic Congresswoman Mary Peltola, say they earned $600,000 shy of that in her first 24 hours.

“This historic support sends a clear message: Alaskans know that Dan delivers,” Nate Adams, Sullivan’s campaign spokesman said in a Thursday news release. “From bolstering our Alaska-based military and Coast Guard, unleashing Alaska’s resource economy, and securing historic investments in Alaska’s healthcare system, Senator Sullivan has a proven record of results.”Alaska’s News Source reached out to the Peltola campaign for their first quarter numbers, which a spokesperson said would be released next week. The campaign pointed out Peltola collected $1.5 million in the first 24 hours after her campaign against the incumbent Sullivan was announced.. “I’m grateful and honored for this incredible support from people who are ready to take on the special interests and DC people and focus on what matters: fish, family, and freedom.”Democrats are in the minority in both chambers of Congress, and flipping a seat like Alaska’s would be a key step toward reclaiming the Senate majority. Sullivan has won two six-year terms. In 2014, he defeated then-incumbent Sen. Mark Begich with 48.8% of the vote to his 45.6%, according toDemocrats argue Sullivan has not faced a truly competitive race in more than a decade. “It’s been 12 years since he’s run a competitive race,” Lauren French, Democratic-aligned Senate Majority PAC communications director and senior advisor, said of Sullivanfirst interview after Peltola announced her candidacy. “Right now, what I’m really excited about, and have never been more optimistic about, is the Alaska comeback.”“I’m running for the U.S. Senate because I’ve seen firsthand what many Alaskans already know: DC is broken, and our future depends on fixing the rigged system that is shutting down Alaska while politicians feather their own nest,” she said when Peltola won her U.S. House seat in a 2022 special election following the death of longtime Alaska Congressman Don Young, defeating former Governor and one-time Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. She won a rematch against Palin in the general election months later. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, who has worked with both Sullivan and Peltola during her tenure in office, has endorsed Sullivan. “We’ve had a pretty solid team here in the Senate for the past 12 years, so we want to figure out how we’re going to keep in the majority,” MurkowskiAlaska House budget panel advances $3,800 PFD in draft budget3 arrested in separate Juneau busts involving $225K of drugsLawsuit seeks to stop Campbell STEM closure, cites lack of transparency from ASD Bills introduced to satisfy Rural Health Transformation requirements, but passage may not be the point
