Multiple people are dead and several others injured after a driver barreled into pedestrians in Oakland Saturday night.
Sunday, May 17, 2026 6:01PMMultiple people are dead and several others injured after a driver barreled into pedestrians in Oakland Saturday night. The crash happened around 11 p.m. near International Boulevard and 85th Avenue near the East Bay Market Liquor store.
"Right now, we're looking at four DOAs, two critical waiting on 26... 26 is getting on scene... and waiting on... we got two ambulances coming," according to audio from the Oakland Fire Department dispatch. Oakland fire officials confirmed on social media that at least three people were found dead at that location. And three other people, including the suspect, were treated for minor injuries.
"He hit this blue car right here, and I guess he hit the gas and went even faster and went down the whole sidewalk, and just sideswiped all those people. And he took off running... I saw him hit this car, I seen him coming but there was nothing I could do he was going too fast," said one witness. It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in this collision.
