Sheriff's deputies investigating a burglary in a San Dimas neighborhood say they uncovered a hidden camera placed across the victim's home. Deputies from the San Dimas Sheriff's Station responded to the 800 block of Via Gregorio Tuesday after a report of a burglary.
That's when they discovered a hidden camera concealed in bushes across from the victim's home. The camera was connected to a portable hotspot and external battery pack, authorities said in a news release. A week earlier, sheriff's officials say a landscaper in the neighborhood also uncovered a hidden device in hedges. That device was described as a cellphone connected to a power bank and wrapped in green camouflage tape, with artificial plants attached.
Sheriff's officials warn the public that thieves may be using similar devices to scout homes before committing burglaries.
"Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and be aware of suspicious or hidden cameras that may be placed in or around yards, entryway, or exterior areas of homes," the Sheriff's Department said in a statement. "If you observe anything suspicious or unusual, please report it to local law enforcement immediately.
