AURORA, Ill. -- Two people were shot near a west suburban senior living community Friday morning, Aurora police said. Aurora police responded to a reported shooting just after 9:30 a.m. in the 2000-block of West Downer Place and found a 25-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound near Downer and Edgelawn Drive.
The man was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was later released. A second male gunshot victim arrived at another local hospital for treatment, police said. He was treated and released. Police said the two were associated with at least two vehicles in the parking lot near the Assissi Homes of Downer Place.
There was a large police presence, crime scene tape and evidence markers. Several nearby schools and childcare facilities were placed on hold-in-place status during the investigation. The shooting appears to have been targeted, police said. No one is in custody.
