Neighbors say a mother and son were rescued. Two people were critically hurt in a row home fire Wednesday in Southwest Philadelphia. They were told there was a person trapped inside.

Two people were pulled from the home and taken to the hospital in critical condition with burn injuries, according to officials.

"She's been my neighbor for over 50 years and she's a beautiful person," said Edna Lindsay. Neighboring homes were also impacted by the response. Lindsay says she wasn't home at the time of the fire, as she was out early for an appointment when she got a call from her pastor who lives on the same block.

"I left at 9:00 and my appointment was 9:30," Lindsay said. "Pastor called me before the appointment and I came right back home. "The fire comes just a day after a separate incident a few blocks away, where a. Police say no one was hurt in that crash and the driver has been charged.

"Yesterday, I saw this accident around the corner at 55th Street, and then this happens today. Lord have mercy," Lindsay said. Related Topics
