SANTA ROSA, Calif. -- Police in Santa Rosa are investigating a shooting on Cinco de Mayo and have offered a reward in the case, the department said Tuesday.
Just before 8:30 p.m., officers assigned to Cinco de Mayo festivities in the area of Sebastopol Road and Avalon Avenue heard gunshots coming from the area of Dutton Avenue. They soon spotted a man in his early 20s running toward them with a gunshot wound. An ambulance was called and the man is in stable condition at the hospital, the department said.
Investigators learned that shortly before the shots were fired, there was an altercation in the parking lot of the 400 block of Sebastopol Road. A suspect drew a gun and fired several rounds, at least one of which struck the victim. The suspect then fled from the area and was described as a man in his twenties wearing a grey sweatshirt.
Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information that would assist with the investigation is encouraged to contact the Santa Rosa Police Department through its online tip line at www.srcity.org/CrimeTips. Information can also be given by contacting Gang Crime Investigations detectives at 543-3670. A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered by the Sonoma County Alliance Community Engagement and Safety Rewards Fund.
The reward is for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects involved in this shooting. Copyright 2026 by Bay City News, Inc. Republication, re-transmission or reuse without the express written consent of Bay City News, Inc. Is prohibited.
