The closure is on the westbound 210 Freeway at the Polk Street overpass. Traffic is being diverted onto the 118 Freeway. The eastbound 118 Freeway transition to the westbound 210 Freeway is also closed due to the police activity. AIR7 flew above the scene, where standstill traffic stretched at least four miles into Sun Valley.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to a report of a man with a gun in the middle of an attempted carjacking at the Polk Street overpass. It's unclear what exactly unfolded, but at some point, an officer fired shots. AIR7 video shows a man being placed in handcuffs at the scene. He was later loaded into an ambulance by first responders.
