Residents in Philadelphia's Fairmount neighborhood woke up to smashed windows, dents and visible damage on their cars after a series of overnight break-ins.

neighborhood woke up to smashed windows, dents and visible damage on their cars after a series of overnight break-ins. At least 10 vehicles were broken into, causing what victims described as thousands of dollars in damage.

"They actually used a crowbar to break that open. So, that's actually going to cost me more than just the window," said Mari Preto-Hodge, whose vehicle was damaged. For many residents, the break-ins were not isolated incidents. Multiple victims said their cars had been targeted before, often in the same location.

"It was actually the second time my car's been broken into in this exact spot," said Tommy McDermott. "We've had this Jeep for about two years now, and this is the second time," he said. Preto-Hodge echoed that frustration, adding, "This is the second time it happened to me with this car, specifically.

" Victims said police have responded multiple times to take reports, but the break-ins continue. For some, the repeated repairs have become routine. Neighbors watched as one victim temporarily covered a shattered window with a bag while weighing whether to file an insurance claim.

"I'm worried about putting in a claim and getting kicked off insurance just for living," McDermott said. Despite the ongoing problem, residents said they are not considering leaving the neighborhood. Instead, they expressed resignation and a desire for the damage to stop.

"What can you do? What's being mad going to do for me? Just gotta clean it up, get it repaired, and go back to work tomorrow," Cradle said. Police were contacted for information regarding the incidents. No further details were immediately available.
